LuxVet Group Expands into Romanian Veterinary Market

11.12.2023

LuxVet Group (“the Group”), the leading platform of veterinary practices in Poland, has started expanding into Eastern European markets. In a recently finalized transaction, the Group became the owner of Vetzone Spital Veterinar, a modern 24-hour veterinary clinic in Romania. There are plans to acquire other practices in the country.  At the same time, the Group is continuing its rapid expansion in Poland – the country with the largest pet population in Europe – where it has already achieved the position of market leader with nearly 40 practices.

LuxVet Group’s strategy is based on a ‘buy-and-build’ model. The company supports the transformation of the Polish veterinary healthcare market by acquiring and investing in the further development of existing veterinary practices and synergistic adjacencies providing additional services to the sector. At the same time, the company is building a state-of-the-art veterinary referral hospital in Warsaw, which will be an important link in the reference network and a natural destination for patients requiring advanced specialist care – ranging from emergency and critical care to orthopaedics, neurology, dentistry, diagnostic imaging, and more.

The Group has secured capital support from three investment funds: funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. as the majority shareholder (also a shareholder in UNAVETS Group, the leading veterinary platform in the Iberian Peninsula and sister platform of LuxVet), Cornerstone Investment Management and INVL Baltic Sea Growth Fund. The success of the business model and the position achieved by the LuxVet Group in Poland encouraged the investors to make the decision to expand to other markets in Central and Eastern Europe.

- With a passion for the well-being of our four-legged companions, the LuxVet Group has consistently set standards for veterinary platforms; entering new markets not only expands our geographic reach, but also demonstrates the company’s commitment to improving the lives of pets and pet parents. Entering the Romanian market reflects the LuxVet Group’s mission to make exceptional veterinary services accessible to all. From the very beginning, our intention was to create a leading veterinary platform in the region, with the same emphasis on innovation and technology as on compassionate care for pets. This step confirms that launching this project was the right decision. - comments Tomasz Jemielity, Vice President at Cornerstone Investment Management.

The acquisition of Vetzone Spital Veterinar, a reputable veterinary clinic in Romania, marks LuxVet Group’s first international expansion. Founded by veterinarian couple, Laurentiu and Cristina Leica, Vetzone Spital is a 24-hour facility is located in Constanta on the Black Sea coast. It employs 16 veterinarians and 7 technicians and offers a wide range of specialist services, including surgery, orthopaedics, dermatology, allergology, internal medicine, endocrinology, cardiology, dentistry and emergency care.

After the first successful transaction, the LuxVet Group plans to make other acquisitions in Romania and expand further in Central and Eastern Europe in the future.

- We have created a business model that works – not only for the investors, but it is equally beneficial for clinic owners and employees. We have tested it in Poland, and we know that it works and significantly supports the transformation of the entire sector towards Western European standards of work and patient care. Today we are ready to implement a similar model in other countries of Central and Eastern Europe. We are starting with Romania, where we see many similarities with our country, for example in terms of market size or its current fragmentation. This is a great opportunity for us and a very promising outlook for the future. - says Piotr Zajączkowski, CEO of the LuxVet Group.

Przychodnia Weterynaryjna Felis joins the LuxVet Group

18.07.2023

We expand our horizons. Przychodnia Weterynaryjna Felis becomes an integral part of the LuxVet Group.

Przychodnia Weterynaryjna Felis was founded in 2008 in Brzeszcze by Veterinarian Damian Korczyk. Guided by the motto: “We treat with passion,” Dr. Korczyk and his Team work and continuously develop for the benefit of their pet patients and the comfort of their owners.

The facility offers services in a spacious building at 32 Dworcowa Street, where doctors work in four offices. Thanks to the appointment system, the service is very smooth, but if preparation for an appointment requires more time, customers can spend those moments in a comfortable, air-conditioned waiting room, with a receptionist always available to help. During waiting time you can also visit the Dietary Center operating within the Facility, along with a pet supply store, where high-quality veterinary and pet food is available.

Preventive, diagnostic and treatment services for animals are provided at the Felis Facility in a very comprehensive manner. When the consultation requires additional tests, specialist doctors have at their disposal state-of-the-art equipment: an ultrasound machine, a digital X-ray machine (images stored on a digital medium are immediately available for analysis and description, and can also be sent for possible further consultations), a blood analysis machine (results are available in less than an hour), and other diagnostic instruments, including an apparatus for measuring blood pressure, a tonometer (for measuring eyeball pressure).Surgical procedures are conducted in an operating theater equipped with a cardiac monitor and an inhalation anesthesia machine. After the procedure, the patient recovers under staff observation in the recovery room or hospital room. Sometimes the treatment involves the administration of drugs intravenously. During a drip administration lasting several hours the owner can accompany his or her four-legged friend in a separate special-purpose room.

With expertise, supported by new technologies, the Facility’s 4 permanent doctors and 2 associate doctors provide veterinary care in the following areas: preventive health care, reproduction, orthopedics, surgery, cardiology, dentistry and ophthalmology. They are supported in their work by veterinary assistants and technicians.

- A modern approach to veterinary medicine and openness to new perspectives have made it possible to take a decision to join the LuxVet Group. As Henry Ford said: “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” The partnership with LuxVet Group provides an opportunity to fulfill the adopted mission even more effectively and to meet the expectations of pet patients and their owners more fully. Joining forces to enter a new stage of development brings the potential to benefit from additional energy and opportunities. - says Veterinarian Damian Korczyk.

By integrating with the LuxVet Group, the Facility will receive support in the areas of administration and accounting, operations, procurement, human resources and recruitment, IT support and marketing. By joining the network, the Facility will be able to provide even better care for patients, as it will join forces with other Group facilities in joint operations. Through a program of knowledge and experience sharing and participation in training, it will be possible to expand services and improve each other.

Lublin Veterinary Polyclinic joins the LuxVet Group

23.06.2023

Lublin Veterinary Polyclinic in the LuxVet Group.

The LuxVet Group expands its range and reputation by acquiring the Lublin Veterinary Polyclinic, run by a well-known authority among veterinarians, DVM Ph.D. Dorota Pomorska-Handwerker and Łukasz Handwerker. Lublin Veterinary Polyclinic is a modern facility providing comprehensive veterinary services for animals at Aleja Kraśnicka 89 in Lublin.

The Polyclinic team consists of experienced professionals, including 5 veterinary specialists, 4 veterinary technicians/assistants and 2 administrative staff members. The Polyclinic provides specialized services in the field of spinal surgery, orthopedics, general surgery, diagnostic imaging (including computer tomography), dermatology, allergology, internal medicine, endocrinology, cardiology, and dentistry.

Lublin Veterinary Polyclinic is a modern center for veterinary medicine, operating based on the latest European standards. The facility is very well equipped and has its own CT (computed tomography), which makes it one of the most advanced clinics in Poland. It has many specialized rooms, including 4 consult rooms, a laboratory, 2 modern operating rooms, 2 hospitals, a CT room and an imaging diagnostics laboratory, where radiological, ultrasound and electrocardiographic scans are performed. These rooms have been designed to provide comprehensive patient care as well as to serve the continuous development of modern veterinary medicine.

Lublin Veterinary Polyclinic stands out not only for its high quality of medical services but also for its exceptional interior design. The clinic’s interiors are functional and stylish, creating a harmonious space where both patients and veterinary staff can feel comfortable. The materials, colors, and architectural details are carefully selected to create a pleasant and peaceful environment. The Lublin Veterinary Polyclinic is distinguished by its unique aesthetics and distinctive style, making it one of the most attractive veterinary medical centers in Poland.

- As a veterinarian and entrepreneur, achieving a work-life balance is challenging. ``Work-life balance`` practically does not exist in our profession. Our work as veterinarians is our passion and calling, but often we have to work alone, under time pressure, competition, financial burdens, and risks.

We treat our businesses like our children. But children need to spread their wings and allow them to fly; that's the maturity of their parents. The time has come for the Lublin Veterinary Polyclinic as well. Today, we release it from our wings, but we will continue working for its development and observe it growing stronger.

The integration with LuxVet Group opens vast opportunities for the Polyclinic's growth. As veterinarians, we dedicate ourselves fully to our businesses, which makes relinquishing control challenging. However, I know that LuxVet Group will provide the Polyclinic with a stable future and continue its mission of delivering the highest quality veterinary care. I am also pleased that through the integration, the Lublin Veterinary Polyclinic will gain support in various areas that are sometimes challenging for us, such as administration, accounting, operational management, procurement, human resources, IT support, and marketing. The training program will enable our doctors and entire team to continuously learn and enhance their qualifications, while private medical care will serve as an additional benefit for employees.

Of course, we hand over our Polyclinic with mixed emotions. It is a very difficult and complex moment. We feel pride, satisfaction, great nostalgia, concern, but also immense relief. I am convinced that now is the time for further tremendous development and success of ``our creation.`` By joining LuxVet Group, we also open up new possibilities for collaboration and knowledge exchange with doctors from other healthcare facilities – after all, we will be working together. Together, we will continue our mission of providing the best care for animals and their owners.

Now, I look to the future with optimism and am delighted that the time I previously devoted to paperwork will be redirected to what I love. I certainly won't start running, crocheting, or playing musical instruments (laughs), but I will have more time for my passion, which is dermatology, clinical work, and social activities for the betterment of our profession. - says DVM Ph.D. Dorota Pomorska-Handwerker.

- We are very happy that the Lublin Veterinary Polyclinic has joined the LuxVet Group. It is a well-known facility, highly appreciated by the veterinary community and animal owners in Lublin. We will be proud to continue to develop the reputation and unique character of the Polyclinic, providing the highest quality of services. - says Piotr Zajączkowski, President of the LuxVet Group.
